Hello! I'm Alex, 26 and from Newcastle Upon Tyne (UK) 

I started out collecting records from a very young age. I've now been DJing for over 5 years, playing mainly in my home town. Of Newcastle, playing my own selections of Rare Soul, Modern, Boogie, Funk, and Northern.

My taste in rare soul music has always been very much across the board. Because of me having such an eccentric taste in music it's helped me meet some incredible people along the way and long may that continue. 

It was an incredible and memorable weekender in March 2020 and I'm really looking forward to sharing with you this online experience – even more to seeing you all soon in person again!

Record collector since 1991 with DJ experience since 1993. Started collecting Jamaican Ska, Rock Steady and Reggae and extended his collecting field with American Soul some years later. He was already playing some of his Soul 45's in Lucerne at the Soul Weekender in 2012 and his Rock Steady and Reggae records in 2018.

The Australian gone walkabout... now based in Copenhagen for the past year and a bit he has wasted no time in sharing his love for Soul since his arrival to Europe. A driving force behind the Double Barrelled Soul Club & The Copenhagen Soul Weekender, Ash has been fortunate to play his records all over the world.

Claire, a.k.a. Miss Cee, comes from London originally, but has lived in Prague many years. She loves all kinds of soulful sounds, especially as she lives in a country where rock music is king! Depending on the vibe, you can catch her playing sweet, deep, midtempo, crossover, 6Ts, 7Ts modern, funky soul, gospel funk, soul jazz, latin soul, and a touch of afrobeat. She loves playing on international line-ups, and has guested in London, Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden, Bamberg and Bratislava. One of her highlights was playing at De La Soul's after party with them in the audience (and sticking around for her whole set!), especially as Three Feet High and Rising was one of the albums that started her on her musical explorations.

Two of my favourite pastimes are travelling and soul music, luckily I’ve managed to combine both over the past few years. 

I’ve been fortunate enough to play both in the UK and Europe at some of the best days, nights and weekends. Currently I’m one of the residents at True Soul and run Good Good Feeling with my wife Lynne (MWL). 

Some people affectionately call me «half man-half mattress» but I don’t plan on sleeping much this weekender…

Soul is the key-word! But I love music in general. More specifically music that has Soul. It can be anything.

Originally from Rome, based in Copenhagen where I started collecting 45s. As DJ, I like to play different sets of any kind of style that belongs to the 60s and 70s. I've always loved Northern/Funk with a hint of Latin, and also some RnB and Rocksteady.

I feel absolutely honored for being invited in Lucerne for NTY. I'm looking forward to be there and dance, play and meet new and old friends!

DJ Murphy, Dan and Wab = L.O.V.E.

"Funky Fever" is a party label which takes place every first Saturday of the month in Lucerne. The series was launched nearly 20 years ago in the Bar 57 with Dj Black Virus and experienced - thanks to DJ Murphy - its revival in the Bar 59.

Now Funky Fever has been inviting for over 10 years almost all Funk and Soul DJs from Switzerland as a guest. Even some international DJs rocked the turntables, such as Tobias Kyrmaier (DE), Mr. Thing (UK), Boca 45 (UK), Skeme Richards (US), Amir Abdullah (US), Amerigo Gazeway (US) or Mirko Machine (DE).

Another highlights were the performances by the bands «Breakestra» (US), den «Mighty Mocambos» (DE) and the «James Brown Tribute Show».

Behind the label are the vinyl freaks DJ Murphy, Dan and Wab who you can meet for a chat with beer also every Wednesday in the Haifish Bar in Lucerne (or at the Co-Mix Remix record store of course). The Funky Fever lives the motto "Save The Vinyl" and remains an event for Funk and Soul freaks, for breakdancers, for old school rap lovers and for those who like to move to Black Music. Boom!

Imke Keyssler aka Ada Loveshake is a Hamburg based (rare) soul collector and occasional DJ.

She used to be member of the all-female-deejay-collective «45° Degrees Soul Club Hamburg» with a regular Nighter at Molotow Club Hamburg. She's been deejaying at various european weekender in recent years, such as Stockholm, Barcelona, Bilbao, Dresden and of course Not Too Young numero five.

She loves and plays all styles of soulful music, 60s as well as 70s and a bit of 80s and contemporary recordings - as long as a tune gets her it needs a place in the box!

I am a swiss guy, born in Houston (Texas), now living in Copenhagen since '97. I do like records, especially old and sometimes rare records. I like a lot of different music from the past and my biggest challenge is to make everything fit into my sets without upsetting people and making them leave the dancefloor. I am very happy to be part of the Not Too Young Swiss Soul Weekender and I will do my best to make people dance to mostly cool records.

Leo Mastropierro has been a dj and club promoter since 1992. He loves black music, especially soul but also jazz, funk, disco. He started as dj spinning acid jazz records in a small town near Rome then he moved to Rome and became resident dj and artistic promoter of the Bluecheese (1999/2006). 

From 2007 to 2011 he was resident dj of a monthly mod/sixties party in Rome and in Terracina Mod Weekender. Since 2008 he has been actively involved, as an organizer and dj, in the Roma Soul City Allnighter, an annual northern soul allnighter in Rome, hosting guest djs like Soul Sam, Arthur Fenn, Gerd Baum, Nige Brown, Sean Chapman, Terry Jones. Leo has been guest dj of the best-known italian soul allnighters like the Black Trefoil Soul Club in Genova, the Allnighter Ducale in Parma, the Oldies Allnighter in Ferrara, Rimini Rare Soul Weekender and Cannonball Soul Weekender in Carpi. 

Outside Italy he played at "Friday Street" Scotland's premier mod club in Glasgow (2010), at the Soul City Berne Special Nighter (2013), at the South of France Soul Weekender and Northern Soul Amsterdam (2017). In 2019 guest dj of Not Too Young Swiss Soul Weekender and at Amsterdam soulful #2.

Lynne made her debut at the Soul Collective in Aberdeen a seven years ago and since then she’s been playing both in the UK and Europe at some top events. Currently Lynne is a resident at True Soul in Edinburgh and also runs Good Good Feeling with her husband Dave – and hosts the infamous lockdown-therapy «Soul Bingo» on Facebook. Expect to hear across the board soul sounds and some disco.

About 14 years ago I began collecting vinyl and DJing. I started with 60s Beat, Soul and Reggae tunes, but then focussed on Soul 45s.

My favourites are Soul, Latin Soul and Funk from the late sixties till the mid seventies, but i also love to play Northern Soul and R’n’B, depending on my mood and on the audience I'm playing for. 

I founded several Clubs and Allnighters in Leipzig and Hamburg and also had some guest spots, mainly in Germany and Spain.

For me a record does not have to be super-rare or belonging to a special style of soul music… as long as it touches me it’ll have a place in my box. 

Since 7 years I'm part of the DJ-Collective „45°Degrees“ - a group of four female Djs here in Hamburg with a regular Nighter at the Molotow Club, located at the Reeperbahn, St. Pauli.

I’ve been involved with the Soul Scene since the very early 2000’s cutting my dancing teeth at the legendary 100 Club All-Nighters. Having got the bug I started collecting Soul 45’s. This inevitably led to me wanting to play records at people. In 2009 along with some like minded South Londoners we started the Crystal Palace Soul Club - a lot of records were played and plenty of fun was had but eventually it fizzled out. These days I play regularly at Soulshaker! in Peckham. 

Really excited to be asked again to spin a few at the NTY Online Alldayer! Looking forward to the anniversary and to seeing you all in person again...

Tall guy Raffish Raab will probably suffer from the results of altitude sickness being from the country below sea level and playing at the NTY Soul Weekender in Lucerne but that will not stop him from throwing some soul in the bag to make fingers snap, heads nod and livers shiver with a selection ranging from straight jazz to dreamy vocals and exotica 45's

Already at age 12 the urge to search and find new music existed and manifested in a collection of tapes full of radio recordings, taped over and over again to obtain the perfect collection. A part time job for someone in high-school alright. 

However, the love for jazz and vinyl did not came until years later. It was in the late 90ies when producing jungle and searching for the perfect sample the 1 euro thrift shop records started to replace the tapes on the shelves and slowly but steady more and more jazz records filled the room. Still mainly bought for samples, they gathered dust for a few more years until one day listening to a Don Rendell record made time freeze. From this moment on, the focus shifted completely: the interest for electronic music stayed but the drive to explore the rich and beautiful history of jazz music slowly but steady became a bigger and integral part of his life until this very day. 

Playing records at gigs became a way of reliving and sharing many of the discoveries to date – making a set by Raffish Raab a very personal listening experience!

I've been into rare soul since my late teenage. As taste varies I've in recent years found out that I like a lot of different styles from northern soul, funk, gospel and raw uptempo 70s soul. During my years on the Swedish soul scene I've promoted a few clubs and been invited to DJ at a few venues around Europe. I really appreciate the loving and caring atmosphere around the Swiss Soul community which contributes to keeping the flame burning for me. Last weekender I attended was a cherished memory and I’m really looking forward to join in on the live event sharing a few sounds.

Lucerne’s Rare-Soul-crafters number one and flagship of the NTY DJ crew. The Spin Club duo stands for vinyl music of the 60’s/ 70’s/ 80’s dished up by the self-styled but definitely treasured nerds Henning Boogali (f.k.a. Boogaloo) and Emel Ilter. «Strictly-original»-proved.

They are into soul music you might come up against scarcely, mostly preferring obscure tracks. Still they appreciate the classical 60’s (Northern) Soul sound and create a respectable mixture of oddish but catchy styles. They are two personalities who have bats in the belfry without any doubt – which they proudly present behind the DJ decks while DJing back-to-back, doing some proper Four Tops moves.
