Imke Keyssler a.k.a. Ada Loveshake got her name from lovely milkshakes when she was a teenager. Milk is the perfect ingredient for Swiss cheese and love is the perfect ingredient for the Swiss Soul Weekender. A perfect match!

She started deejaying in the mid 90s at Tupperware and stag parties but has been growing deeply into Soul and Rare Soul for about 15 years now. Since 2010 she is part of the all-female-deejay-collective «45° Degrees Soul Club Hamburg» with a regular Nighter at Molotow Club Hamburg. She also deejayed at events such as Hamburg Soul Weekender, Movin' On Barcelona, For Dancers Only Hamburg, Motte Allnighter Hamburg and Upon My Soul Dresden.

We would like to introduce you to a true family member and fratello of the Swiss Soul Club!

Davide Borello from Milano is the youngest lad of the crew. His name «Borello» has nothing to do with «bore» in any way. His heart is full of passion and when I say full I really mean it’s jammed of passion! He has lots of love to give and invests every free moment in diggin' for records that let his feelings escalate. He is doing this since 2010 and since he got into this genre he discovered a new musical dimension for himself and enjoys to meet a bouquet of new people he has never thought of getting in touch with. When you talk to him you will notice that he is like a chameleon, perfect cockney accent - no problem, talking german - why not?, saying a fluffy Gruezi - easy, bro.

Music-wise, expect anything reaching from Funk to Modern/ Disco Soul, with a tip of the cap to indie/little budget productions and Sweet/Deep territory, too. If you want an extra bite of the cake don't forget, he co-runs Milano-based Nighter «Santeria Soul Alldayer» whilst going solo on «Slow Sundays» radio show.

He's the man! But only complete with his lovely wife Klaartje. And when he is able to play bicycle race on a computer as much as he can.

When I first saw the amazing sales lists from Diggin’ Dave on Soul-Source I thought he is an old cool good-looking black guy cause of his avatar picture. First time I saw him in reality was a bit deflating cause he turned out to be young, white and good-looking. After a little chit-chat emotions ran free and there was time for love. What a great guy!

Now to something completely different, namely the records: When he moved to Ghent to study he passed a record store, was mysteriously drawn in and was immediately hooked. So badly in fact that he had to start selling some records to fund his expensive habit.

He likes all music styles from delta blues to ghetto tech and within the broad Soul spectrum. He tries to find the good things in all genres instead of specialising in one thing. He tries to make it as fluent as possible but there might be some Boogaloo, Funk, Latin, Modern, Crossover, Disco, Northern and everything in between. He doesn't care too much about rarity, as long as it gets the feet moving he's a happy man. To get him really excited just give him a Julientje (with a Glennie burger on the side).

I think nearly everybody bought records from him in the past but not many saw him DJing although he already played at Bilbao Weekender, Filthy Soul, Movin’ On, some local things and of course their own Sweet! Alldayer.

DJ Pesa, ladies and gentlemen!

It all started with granny’s record player and his parents’ collection. Beatles, Stones, The Who and The Doors were those to inflame his passion for music of the 60s and 70s. Rock music was quickly followed up by Soul, Funk, Jazz and Rap.

For 20 years now he is known as DJ Pesa. Though DJing became a minor matter for the family father his main focus is diggin’ deeply in crates for the treasured vinyl.

Since 2012 he is hosting his own radio show «Lost&Found» on national radio station SRF Virus. He loves to discover his own forgotten records in his collection while preparing his shows and that he can play stuff that wouldn’t be played on any dancefloor.

People shouldn’t ask him about the number of records he owns cause he doesn’t know - as most of addicted collectors don’t! Cause the answer is always the same: «It’s still not enough!»

We’re very much looking forward to Pesa DJing at the NTY cause we’re absolutely thankful for his support and his understanding of the craziness of collecting vinyl.

Fabian is based in Basel and record collector since school days. Mainly into classic 60s Northern Soul, Detroit, mid-tempo and beat ballads but also genres such as Early Reggae and 6Ts Beat.

Flo Dalton... and there's nothing else left to say.

This man actually moved to Switzerland because of its cheese and for some specific birds he likes to watch. After living here for a few days even the bus drivers started welcoming him by name and high-fiving his bald head. Besides that he spins some heavily scratched records with Rocksteady, Reggae and Mariachi on them. He loves to dance to House and knows every Techno track by heart (which he tries to sing along).

As a proper member of the Swiss Soul Club cranking crew he's also in charge of the Off Beat Floor which you'll be able to enjoy on Friday night.

DJ Murphy, Dan and Wab = L.O.V.E.

«Funky Fever» ist eine Partyreihe, die jeden ersten Samstag im Monat in Luzern stattfindet. Die Reihe startete vor fast 20 Jahren in der Bar 57 mit Dj Black Virus und erlebt dank DJ Murphy in der Bar 59 ihr Revival.

Nun läuft die Partyreihe schon seit über 6 Jahren im besagten Club und hatte schon fast alle Funk and Soul DJs der Schweiz mindestens einmal zu Gast. Auch einige internationale DJs haben die Turntables gerockt, wie z.B. Tobias Kyrmaier (DE), Mr. Thing (UK), Skeme Richards (US), Amir Abdullah (US), Amerigo Gazeway (US) oder Double D (DE).

Ein weiteres Highlight waren die Auftritte von den Bands «Breakestra» (US), den «Mighty Mocambos» (DE) und die «James Brown Tribute Show».

Hinter dem Label stehen die Platten-Freaks DJ Murphy, Dan und Wab, die man auf einen Schwatz mit Bier auch mittwöchlich in der Haifish Bar antreffen kann (oder im Co-Mix Remix natürlich). Das Funky Fever lebt das Motto «Save The Vinyl» und ist und bleibt der Event für Funk and Soul Freaks, für Breakdancer, für Oldschool Rap Liebhaber und für alle, die sich gerne zu Black Music bewegen. Boom!

Having started collecting 45s in early 2000, he set in his record journey by collecting 70s Powerpop/Mod and 60s Garage. At that time, he began DJing and organizing some regular parties in Berlin. First time we got to know the Soul Sociedad guys was in Neuchâtel during a film festival when they were hosting the Numero Group guys Rob and Kevin. We ended up drunk at David’s place where I fell asleep on the couch in-between piles of 45s and LPs. Which was great.

Last year David a.k.a. Ill Dubio first joined a Spin Club Lucerne nighter and rocked the boat together with Emel and Henning. Later he joined the Alldayer at NTY15 together with Oskar from Soul Sociedad. This time he’ll be ruling the decks on his own, dropping his mellow and exquisite stuff from Latin to Jazz to Funk to Disco to Modern Soul.

Here's Jakob from Antwerp, Belgium, also known as the "Cherry Man". He's been in the rare records game for well over 20 years and dabbled in all kinds of music... Reggae, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Prog Rock, etc. from the world over. 

Jakob shared these records through many mixtapes made with his crew "After Hours" back in the 90s and through his now defunct blog Ridiculous Raw. Some of them still listenable on his Mixcloud (see link below below).

He is probably most known for his J. Dilla sample mixes "Donuts - The Blueprints" and "Shining Back" some 10 years back whom were heavily bootlegged shortly after being made available as a free download. Jakob won a gold medal in Mixcloud's Radiolympics ca. 2012 in the Funk category with a mix of deep funk classics.

Nowadays, after selling most of his collection, he sticks to his deepest love which is group harmony soul, preferably the slow kind. And that's why they call him the Cherry Man and that's what you can expect of him in Lucerne. 

He already has announced to do either a 60s set with some Lowrider flavor or a modern sweet soul set. Or maybe something in between. And probably throw in a few dancers, too. It will move in any ways. And get everybody in the mood for making love...

As a regular guest of the Funky Fever partys at Bar59 he knows how to move. He occasionally spins records since 2004 and started digging vintage vinyl, mainly 45’s, in 2008. Collecting a wide range of styles, including R'n'B, Deep Funk, Northern & Modern soul, Mod Jazz and Latin, to name a few. In the past he had the pleasure to be resident DJ at the Monkbreakz/Absolution Festivalnight and take part at events like Polyester Club Leipzig, Soulicious Wiesbaden and Funky Fever Lucerne. He's looking forward to meet some interesting people and see the crowd dancing. You may think: «Who is this wise Lumberjack-Fisherman?» He is not only wise, he is also one of the top young jocks at the moment. He already started his DJ career in Oslo around 15 years ago as a House and Techno DJ, but has now transitioned into one of Oslo's most dedicated collectors and DJs of Rare Soul and Boogie. As a Graphic Designer with roots in Graffiti and Street Art he always has been close to the HipHop side of things, collecting the banging and deep and rare 45s, with jazzy drums and of course a proper portion of Soul in it. His connection to Lucerne didn't come out of nowhere. He has been sharing the same office with Emel, forcing her to listen to mixtapes he burned on CD for her (back in the days) - from Kon & Amir etc. - to show her that she knows nothing. Ha!.. He would call it «sharing is caring» which he'll do a second time at the NTY.

Lucerne’s Rare-Soul-crafters number one and flagship of the Swiss Soul Club. The party label stands for vinyl music of the 60’s/ 70’s/ 80’s dished up by the self-styled but definitely treasured nerds Henning Boogali (f.k.a. Boogaloo) and Emel Ilter. «Strictly-original»-proved.

They are into soul music you might come up against scarcely, mostly preferring obscure tracks. Still they appreciate the classical 60’s (Northern) Soul sound and create a respectable mixture of oddish but catchy styles. They are two personalities who have bats in the belfry without any doubt – which they proudly present behind the DJ decks while DJing back-to-back, doing some proper Four Tops moves.

Thee Snufferer (Right On Time, Cologne)

It all kicked off in 1983 with the Clash. He just had to buy his first ever record on the school yard because he previously heard «Safe European Home» on the radio. The fact that he didn't own a record player at that time was a mere detail.

Since that moment he developed a keen interest for 60s and 70s music via the usual suspects Powerpop, Garage, Punkrock, Oi!  and a brief excursion into Soul & RnB. Then Two Tone came along and built a more solid foundation for his love of Early Reggae, Rock Steady and Ska.

He’s currently the resident DJ and the host of RIGHT ON TIME in Cologne, resident DJ at the BANG BOOM BOSS Nighter in Oberhausen and regularly gets invited to various events on the European Early Reggae circuit where he gives his cherished collection of original vinyl a spin every now an then.

And he will do so too on the Offbeat-Floor on Friday night. Reeewind!

Valentina made her first moves into the so-called Soul Scene in the late 90s. Her hometown Genoa already had strong connections to Soul Music thanks to collectives like Black Trefoil Soul Club which is supposed to be one of the oldest clubs in Europe. Very quickly she found herself immersed in the Italian Niter scene and discovered Soul Music.

Regular visits to up-front clubs like "Breakout" (Milan), "Voice your Choice" (Vincenza), "Covo" (Bologna) and the Rimini soul Weekender since 2002 - which she is now promoting with friends, celebrating soon the 13th edition! - made her get deeper into it. Thanks to those events she had the opportunity to listen to great Soul Music provided by not only Italian DJs but also a lot of international guests. 

But Italy wasn't enough. Soul Music made her travel to the UK frequently, to events like Cleethorpes and Fleetwood (Tent) which was the place for her to fall in love with 70s Soul and Crossover Soul. Most important reason for Valentina - besides dancing - is the chance to meet people and share the same interesst, not to say: passion! 

She started collecting records recently and playing them on events. A woman who's so passionate about Soul Music definitely won't do wrong behind the decks! That's why we're so happy to give Valentina another opportunity to share her music and make people dance!
