Vor etwa fünfzig Jahren wurden auf einer Insel in der Karibik etliche Emotionen in schwarzes Plastik gepresst. Und sie wurden hergestellt, um sie mit anderen zu teilen... aus diesem Grund sieht man Alex oft einen Koffer voller Platten aus dieser Zeit schleppen.

Egal ob auf einem kleinen Nighter in der Nachbarschaft oder im Ausland, auf einem Event der Pressure-Drop-Reihe mit Co-DJ Gnanli in der Zürcher Kasheme oder auf dem grössten Reggae-Festival der Schweiz: Er zögert nicht, sein Publikum mit authentischem Rock Steady und amtlichem Early Reggae zu beglücken, gerne aufgelockert mit etwas Ska, Northern Soul, R'n'B und bisweilen gar mit alten Platten aus Äthiopien, Deutschland und Italien.

Ganz sicher wird er für den NTY einige edle Tunes im Gepäck haben und über den Off-Beat-Floor pusten. Also schaut vorbei, um euch mit euren Trommelfellen ein wenig des ohrgasmischen Jamaika-Sounds abzuholen. Weil Emotionen bisweilen mit 45 Umdrehungen pro Minute rotieren...

The DJ collective Capital Soul Sinners was founded 13 years ago. Five DJs joined together in a period of a tired or non-existent Rhythm'n'Blues and Soul scene in the Swiss capital Berne.

DJ el Tigre has been spinning records for over 35 years and was earlier bass player for the "The Monsters" and "The Super Supers". Later the Capital Soul Sinners released the single "Mama Soul / The Super Supers (CSS-001)” on the occasion of their fifth anniversary.

N'dee Fresh has been in the business for several decades and has an impressive record collection of Rap history too in addition to his Soul collection. DJ el Mensajero joined the collective later after living in Bangkok for several years and returning to Switzerland. He is also addicted to French sixties records. The youngest sinners Silvio Serioso and Madame Violence met for the first time in a bar where she worked and he was on his way to his very first gig as a DJ back in 2005. They got to know each other and their common passion for soul music was strong: later they got married and now they mostly spin records together.

DJ N'dee Fresh, Madame Violence & Silvio Serioso will represent the Capital Soul Sinners at the 8th NOT TOO YOUNG Swiss Soul Weekender.

Hello everybody, my name is Fabian and I am from Basel. 

I got into Soul music via the Ska & Scooter scene when my older brother took me to a concert of «Bad Manners». As a 14 years old, this experience was spellbinding! I soon started collecting Ska and Reggae records until I got into Northern Soul a few years later.

I am mainly into classic 6Ts Northern but I also love Early Reggae and Beat. Crossover and Modern? Maybe slowly getting there… I turned to be a little bit more experimental these days. Being more of a collector, I only DJ-ed a few times at the fantastic Swiss Soul Weekender in Lucerne.

This man actually moved to Switzerland because of its cheese and for some specific birds he likes to watch. After living here for a few days even the bus drivers started welcoming him by name and high-fiving his bald head. Besides that he spins some heavily scratched records with Rocksteady, Reggae and Mariachi on them. He loves to dance to House and knows every Techno track by heart (which he tries to sing along).

As a proper member of the NTY cranking crew he's also in charge of the Off Beat Floor which you'll be able to enjoy on Saturday night.

DJ Murphy, Dan and Wab = L.O.V.E.

«Funky Fever» ist eine Partyreihe, die jeden ersten Samstag im Monat in Luzern stattfindet. Die Reihe startete vor fast 20 Jahren in der Bar 57 mit Dj Black Virus und erlebt dank DJ Murphy in der Bar 59 ihr Revival.

Nun läuft die Partyreihe schon seit über 9 Jahren im besagten Club und hatte schon fast alle Funk and Soul DJs der Schweiz mindestens einmal zu Gast. Auch einige internationale DJs haben die Turntables gerockt, wie z.B. Tobias Kyrmaier (DE), Mr. Thing (UK), Boca 45 (UK), Skeme Richards (US), Amir Abdullah (US), Amerigo Gazeway (US) oder Mirko Machine (DE).

Ein weiteres Highlight waren die Auftritte von den Bands «Breakestra» (US), den «Mighty Mocambos» (DE) und die «James Brown Tribute Show».

Hinter dem Label stehen die Platten-Freaks DJ Murphy, Dan und Wab, die man auf einen Schwatz mit Bier auch mittwöchlich in der Haifish Bar antreffen kann (oder im Co-Mix Remix natürlich). Das Funky Fever lebt das Motto «Save The Vinyl» und ist und bleibt der Event für Funk and Soul Freaks, für Breakdancer, für Oldschool Rap Liebhaber und für alle, die sich gerne zu Black Music bewegen. Boom!

I am a swiss guy, born in Houston (Texas), now living in Copenhagen since '97. I do like records, especially old and sometimes rare records. I like a lot of different music from the past and my biggest challenge is to make everything fit into my sets without upsetting people and making them leave the dancefloor. I am very happy to be part of the Not Too Young Swiss Soul Weekender and I will do my best to make people dance to mostly cool records.

Hi there, I'm Julian Reca from Barcelona and I co-run London/BCN based club Reel to Reel with my bro James Pogson, R2R takes the black dance music to the max, from the most obscure Boogie n Disco Beats to the sweetest'n'soulful tunes. Our mission is clear and is to keep the dancefloor packed for your booty shakin pleasure.

I am also involved in the organisation of Noche Romantica, an only Latin music club with base in Mexico city, Oakland, LA, NY and Barcelona, as a big family around the globe, is growing bigger and bigger, spreading the "Puro Pari" coolture everywhere we go.

Ich lege seit 2013 auf, anfangs eher als Sidekick mit vielleicht 20-30 Platten, unter anderem hatte ich die Ehre beim ersten Offbeatfloor eine halbe Stunde mein bestes zu geben. Seit Oktober letzten Jahres habe ich meinen eigenen Nighter (Fire Corner Allnighter im Werkk in Baden), welcher regelmässig zweimonatlich stattfindet. Zu meinem Repertoire gehören Ska, Rocksteady und Early Reggae.

Die Top 5 zu finden war schwierig wie bei vermutlich allen aber ich konnte dennoch meine absoluten Favoriten zusammenkratzen, die wären:

In the early 1980’s a schoolfriend and I started going to local mod do's in Bucks (just outside London) and we’re instantly seduced by the "the Bottle", "Wade in the Water" and "Just like Romeo & Juliet".

Rapidly we grew into men,  going to soul nights, Dayers and nighters.

The 100 Club in 1986  was electric, moody and musically utterly insane - but it was the big Midlands nighters that made a lasting impression. Keb, Guy and Adam were massively influential  along with Ian Clarke and Ady... (This was before Butch started spinning). 

Records were so cheap you’d be a fool not to collect - (Minnie jones £12 anyone) and towards the end of the 80s Bradford was amazing - incredible modern room. 

Like many others I moved into house and acid jazz for a bit but coming back to northern in the late 90s when it was in the middle of a renaissance. 

A few more years off with children, attending festivals and doing femi Kutis dance workshop and I was delighted to return to the soul scene in 2008 to find it flourishing and global! 

Blessed to have met a fantastic bunch of new soul fans and family, and nowadays enjoy traveling a bit further than M1 junction 15 and playing to new faces with some of the nicest people in the game (that’s Emel & Henning) must say I’m really liking forwards to coming to Lucerne again for NTY!!

Leo has been a DJ and club promoter since 1992. He loves black music, especially soul but also jazz, funk, disco.
He started as DJ spinning acid jazz records in a small town near Rome then he moved to Rome and became resident DJ and artistic promoter of the Bluecheese (1999/2006). From 2007 to 2011 he was resident DJ of a monthly mod/sixties party in Rome and in Terracina Mod Weekender.

Since 2008 he has been actively involved, as an organizer and dj, in the Roma Soul City Allnighter, an annual northern soul allnighter in Rome, hosting guest DJs like Soul Sam, Arthur Fenn, Gerd Baum, Nige Brown, Sean Chapman, Terry Jones.

Leo has been guest DJ of the best-known Italian soul allnighters like the Black Trefoil Soul Club in Genova, the Allnighter Ducale in Parma, the Oldies Allnighter in Ferrara, Rimini Rare Soul Weekender and Cannonball Soul Weekender in Carpi.

Outside Italy he played at «Friday Street» Scotland's premier mod club in Glasgow (2010), at the Soul City Berne Special Nighter (2013), at the South of France Soul Weekender and Northern Soul Amsterdam (2017).

About 14 years ago I began collecting vinyl and DJing. I started with 60s Beat, Soul and Reggae tunes, but then focussed on Soul 45s.

My favourites are Soul, Latin Soul and Funk from the late sixties till the mid seventies, but i also love to play Northern Soul and R’n’B, depending on my mood and on the audience I'm playing for. 

I founded several Clubs and Allnighters in Leipzig and Hamburg and also had some guest spots, mainly in Germany and Spain.

For me a record does not have to be super-rare or belonging to a special style of soul music… as long as it touches me it’ll have a place in my box. 

Since 7 years I'm part of the DJ-Collective „45°Degrees“ - a group of four female Djs here in Hamburg with a regular Nighter at the Molotow Club, located at the Reeperbahn, St. Pauli.

Hi, my name’s Yves. 

I passed the first half of my life without records. Then I spent my first hard earned money at a local reggae store and got addicted. 

As the time went on, I startet to play out and share my collection. So I got in to the ‚SMART Lion‘ DJ collective, cofounded the ‚BaBaBoom store’ and started my nose flute career.

I’ve been involved with the Soul Scene since the very early 2000’s cutting my dancing teeth at the legendary 100 Club All-Nighters. Having got the bug I started collecting Soul 45’s. This inevitably led to me wanting to play records at people. In 2009 along with some like minded South Londoners we started the Crystal Palace Soul Club - a lot of records were played and plenty of fun was had but eventually it fizzled out. These days I play regularly at Soulshaker! in Peckham.

Lucerne’s Rare-Soul-crafters number one and flagship of the NTY DJ crew. The Spin Club duo stands for vinyl music of the 60’s/ 70’s/ 80’s dished up by the self-styled but definitely treasured nerds Henning Boogali (f.k.a. Boogaloo) and Emel Ilter. «Strictly-original»-proved.

They are into soul music you might come up against scarcely, mostly preferring obscure tracks. Still they appreciate the classical 60’s (Northern) Soul sound and create a respectable mixture of oddish but catchy styles. They are two personalities who have bats in the belfry without any doubt – which they proudly present behind the DJ decks while DJing back-to-back, doing some proper Four Tops moves.

I'm Victor, I'm 32 and I've been based in Paris for the past 10 years. 
I started collecting records when I was a teenager and focused on soul music during those years. I started to play records in local bars when I moved to the big city, and in 2014 I got involved in a soul and funk all-nighter in the east side of Paris; the Soul Parade Club. As well as those parties, I also host a radio show on LeMellotron.com dedicated to the sweeter side of soul music, defining what I call the Rampal Sound.

I'm honoured and humbled to be invited to play in Lucerne among top dee-jays. It's my first international guest spot and I'm really looking forward to it!
